Our BIG bike ride to Mirepoix

Everybody who knows my mom will also know that she is a crazy exercise fanatic, (she really doesn't stop! So of course when we first got in Rivel my mom instantly started talking about renting bikes, but anyways that was a few day earlier from what I am talking about now. So after just a few days of biking to Chelabre and back my mom had had enough and wanted something a little bit more (fun)! So one day when we woke up my mom announced that we were to go biking to Camon. Camon was a small and really pretty town that was fortified with ivy covered houses, red lamps everywhere, and small little roads.

Camon was only a few towns away from where we were in Rivel so I didn’t mind it that much plus we were going to be eating at a fancy restaurant when we got there. So we all hopped on our really nice rental bikes and headed down the little road that led out of Rivel. It was beautiful day so it was perfect for biking. After a while of biking we finally arrived at the sign that said Camon. So we all veered right down the dirt road and ended up on the nice paved road that lead into the little town. We all decided that it was now officially time for lunch, but after biking all around the town we realized that the restaurant we were looking for was closed! Since that was the only restaurant in the town my mom quickly told us that we would for sure find another restaurant in one of the other towns. So we all kept on biking on and on until we got to another town. Once again no luck, the town was way too small to have a restaurant. So again my mom told us that we would keep going on. We kept biking again and kept passing tiny little town with no restaurants. We kept biking until we finally saw a small town on top of a hill. So we all decided that it would be worth it to climb that hill for food because we knew that there would have to be a restaurant our something up there. So we all shifted our gears on the bike and crawled up the steep hill. That was a lot longer than it looked like. When we finally got to the top we were all really hungry. So that when we stopped at the top with a fig tree beside us we all gorged on as many figs as we could. Then we continued on looking for a restaurant. We were starting again to realize that we wouldn't find one here. So my dad just to make sure asked someone if there was some sort of place we could find food, but the guy just simply said no! So we biked back down the hill frustrated. That’s when my mom came up with the great idea to bike to Mirepoix one of the bigger towns in that area, but Mirepoix was really far away. My mom said it wasn't, but really it was! So we just kept biking and biking. After a long time we finally saw the sign that read Mirepoix. We were all so happy that we had finally made it. It had taken us 4 hours to bike from Rivel to Mirepoix. We had biked 35 kilometers to get there. By now we were all starving and we really needed food! We locked up our bikes and headed to the medieval square to look for food. We sat down instantly at the first cafe we saw. The waiter then came up to us and asked what drinks we wanted and we then said we wanted food. That’s when the waiter said they weren't serving food at that time. What we had forgotten was that all of France closed down around lunch time and they stopped serving food until later that night. So we quickly left that cafe and looked desperately for a place that did serve food. We then found another café that said they only had three sandwiches left. That was still good enough. So we then devoured our sandwiches and after that we looked around the pretty town and bought some snacks for the ride home.

It was finally time for the long journey back to our house in Rivel. We were all not looking forward to it, but we still sat down on our bike seats. After a long, long time it seemed we were finally back home. We had a nice quiet evening and went to bed.
